A mark that works at 16 pixels and on the side of a van. Full file set, no monthly licence.£2,500 to £5,000

Branding is how a business looks and feels wherever someone meets it, and the logo is the heart of it. A good mark is not just a nice picture; it has to work at sixteen pixels in a browser tab, embroidered on a polo shirt, and two feet wide on the side of a van, in colour and in plain black. Designing one properly means solving all of those at once, which is why a logo knocked up cheaply so often falls apart the moment it leaves the screen.
Around the logo sits the rest: a set of colours, a typeface or two, and a few simple rules for how they go together. That is what turns a logo into a brand, because it means your website, your social posts, your invoices, your signage and your emails all look like they come from the same business. Consistency is most of what makes a small business look established, and it costs nothing extra once the rules exist.
The thing we will not do is trap you. Plenty of design outfits keep the source files, or licence the logo to you on terms that mean you are renting your own identity. We hand over the complete file set, in every format you could need, and the marks are yours outright with no monthly fee. Your brand is yours; that should not even be a question.
The first help is credibility, which matters more for a small business than a large one. A polished, consistent brand makes a firm of three look as trustworthy as a firm of thirty, and a scrappy, inconsistent one does the opposite no matter how good the actual work is. People read professionalism from these signals in seconds, and getting them right is one of the cheapest ways to be taken more seriously.
The second is recognition, which compounds over time. When everything you put out looks like the same business, people start to recognise you, and recognition builds the quiet familiarity that trust grows from. A business whose van, website and invoice all look unrelated throws that away every time; one that is consistent is slowly becoming a name people know.
And it makes everything easier to produce afterwards. Once the colours, fonts and rules exist, every future thing, a new page, a leaflet, a social post, a sign, has a clear starting point instead of a fresh argument about how it should look. The brand guide turns design from a recurring cost and a recurring debate into something your own team can keep consistent without you.

Illustrative cases. Tap one to see what happened and what could have been done.
The case
A tradesman had a logo done cheaply online that looked fine on a screen and turned to mush the moment it was embroidered on workwear or printed on a van, because it had fine detail and no proper files.
What could have been done
Redesigning it to work at every size, in full colour and plain black, and handing over the complete file set, makes his vans, shirts and website look like one confident business rather than three different afterthoughts.
The case
A growing services firm had drifted into using different colours and fonts on its website, its quotes and its social media, so to a customer it barely looked like the same company from one touchpoint to the next.
What could have been done
Setting a simple palette, type and rules and applying them across everything makes the business look established and deliberate, so it starts being taken more seriously for exactly that reason, without anything else about it changing.
