Server migration

Server migration is moving the machine, or machines, that your business runs on from one place to another: physical hardware to a virtual environment, an ageing box in the office to the cloud, or one hosting provider to a better one. The server holds the systems everyone depends on, so moving it is a bit like changing the foundations of a building while people are still working in it, which is exactly why it has to be rehearsed rather than improvised.

That is the part careless migrations skip. A server holds live data that is changing by the minute, applications with fiddly configurations, and dependencies nobody documented, so a move done on the day and hoped for the best is how businesses lose data or find the new system does not work once the old one is gone. The professional approach is to rehearse the whole thing on a copy first, prove it works, and only then touch anything real.

We build the new environment, migrate onto a copy and test it until we are certain everything genuinely runs, then schedule the real cutover around your trading hours rather than ours, with the old server kept ready as a fallback. Done this way the move is deliberate and reversible at every step, rather than a leap of faith taken during working hours with the business holding its breath.
